About Salmon Returns

Deep Experience.
Shared Purpose.

We are finance practitioners, economic strategists, organizers,
conservation leaders, entrepreneurs, and community partners
working together across one bioregion.

01 / How we are built

One bioregional platform. Multiple forms of capital.

Salmon Returns is a bioregional platform that brings multiple forms of capital together, rather than operating as a single fund or legal entity. The result is a platform that can grow and adapt while staying accountable to communities, place, and purpose.

01 / CHARITABLE INFRASTRUCTURE

Fund the conditions for regeneration.

Our charitable platform supports the relationships, governance, planning, stewardship capacity, and shared infrastructure that form the foundation for lasting regeneration and create the conditions for broader capital stacks to come together. In the U.S., our sponsored-project and donor-advised fund infrastructure creates pathways for philanthropic support; in Canada, Salmon Returns Foundation anchors our non profit presence.

02 / OPERATING PLATFORM

Coordinate strategy across the bioregion.

Our cross-border operating entities originate opportunities, coordinate regional strategy, structure transactions, and steward long-term relationships. The platform is the connective tissue between communities, capital providers, technical partners, and investment vehicles.

03 / INVESTMENT VEHICLES

Match the vehicle to the job.

Purpose-built funds and SPVs hold return-seeking capital separately from charitable resources. This lets each source of capital take the risk, return, and time horizon it is best suited for—without forcing the whole system into one financial model.

One mission. Multiple pathways. Capital structured for the work.
02 / Our team

Grassroots wisdom.
Financial expertise.

For more than 30 years, our team has turned ambitious ideas into organizations, investment products, coalitions, and place-based initiatives. Through leadership roles at Ecotrust, NDN Collective, Salmon Nation Trust, WWF-Canada, Sierra Club BC, and other mission-driven organizations, we have worked alongside communities to strengthen local economies, build community and Indigienous power, and keep value rooted in place.

Across our prior work, we have managed and mobilized more than $1 billion for community-rooted impact and pioneered values-aligned financial tools, including the first fossil-fuel-free ETF listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

Salmon Returns is where we bring decades of experience together, working alongside communities as they shape the next generation of regional economies.

04 / Our collaborators

No one regenerates a bioregion alone.

Salmon Returns exists to weave across sectors and worldviews—bringing together Indigenous Nations, community organizations, scientists, farmers, financiers, and public partners to align capital, stewardship, and accountability in the same direction.

We are grateful to work alongside collaborators helping build the next era of bioregion-scale regeneration.

Built for the long term

The work is generational.
So is the institution we are building.

Salmon Returns is designed to steward regenerative assets, capital, and relationships across fund cycles, political cycles, and generations.
